RV Road Trip Ideas: Touring Iconic Football Stadiums Across the Country

Jennifer Skinnell • December 3, 2025

Did you know you can tour different sports stadiums around the country—not just go to a game? When we realized we could do this, we made it a point to add this to our travel list. Here are the stadiums we’ve toured so far.

Even if you aren’t a Dallas Cowboys fan, you should check out AT&T Stadium. Tours are available daily (unless it’s game day). You’ll get a great behind-the-scenes tour including locker rooms for the players and cheerleaders as well as access to the field. Tour information can be found here.

PARKING NOTE: There is plenty of parking for your RV and easy access from the highway.

When we were planning our trip for the Escapees Tournament of Roses HOP, we found out they were offering tours of the Rose Bowl. To be able to tour this iconic stadium was amazing. While not as grand as NFL stadiums, this historic stadium is worth the tour. For information on booking your own tour, click here.

PARKING NOTE: There is a large parking lot that may be able to accommodate and RV, but you are traveling around Pasadena and may not want to bring your rig through the neighborhood streets to get there.

Kansas City GEHA Stadium

Home to the Kansas City Chiefs, this stadium is one of the oldest in the country. We had access to the field, locker room, press box, and VIP lounge. For information on the different tour packages and available dates, click here.

PARKING NOTE: There is plenty of parking and easy access from the highway, so driving your home on wheels there shouldn’t be a problem.

SoFi Stadium

We thought AT&T was amazing—until we went to SoFi in Los Angeles. This stadium blew us away! Our tour took us all around the stadium, and the tour guide told us about the environmentally conscious aspects of the facility. And besides, it was beautiful! This stadium will also be an integral part of the 2028 Summer Olympics. Head to LA and book your tour here before you go.

PARKING NOTE: While there is a large parking area, remember that you are in LA and have to go down neighborhood streets to get to the stadium.

Ohio State Stadium “The Shoe”

This iconic stadium is definitely worth the trip to Columbus, even if you aren’t a Buckeye fan. This tour takes you to all the places you’d expect to go and gives you the history along the way. As with all the other tours on our list, the guide was very knowledgeable and made it an enjoyable experience. Once you’re done with the tour, head over to the Woody Hayes Center to see all the trophies and awards the football program has won over the years. For information on the tours and when they are available click here.

PARKING NOTE: The stadium is on a college campus. Parking for the tour is not large enough to accommodate an RV.

As you can see, this is just a small sample of the many stadiums around the country. Check your travel itinerary and see if you can add a stadium tour to your list of must-dos.

Travel Trailers & Fifth Wheels

A long long time ago, in a very different world, I began my camping journey. I was all of, maybe 14. Dad had an old hand made trailer, built out of a transaxle from a 40 Ford sedan or something, plus some iron bed rails and sheets of scrap airplane aluminum. Oh, and the hitch connection was a drive shaft, welded into the axle with a hitch welded to the front. This isn’t the actual trailer, but a close facsimile.
