Mike’s Mission: Supporting the Autism Community From the Road

Jennifer Schillaci • January 9, 2026

Some people travel to sightsee. Mike travels with purpose.

Across RV shows, campgrounds, and communities nationwide, Mike’s Mission is making an impact, raising awareness, building understanding, and supporting the autism community one conversation at a time. His journey is not just personal; it’s a calling.

A Voice for Autism Advocacy

Mike lives in Orlando, Florida, but he has traveled extensively with his parents and sister, bringing his mission and advocacy work to communities all across the country. Whether he’s at a major RV show or a small local event, Mike shows up with heart, courage, and a desire to make a difference.

He also serves as an advocate with Autism Speaks in Washington, D.C., lending his voice to a cause that deeply matters to him and to countless families. His passion for advocacy doesn’t stop when he leaves the Capitol, he brings that same heart to the RV community.

From the Tampa RV SuperShow to the Massachusetts RV Show, Mike and his family show up year after year to shine a light on the autism community, raise awareness, and offer support to individuals who deserve to be understood and included.

“People with autism may think and do things differently… but we can do so much more than people expect.”

This is Mike’s message — simple, powerful, and true.

He knows firsthand that meet‑and‑greets, crowds, and networking can be challenging. But he also knows that showing up matters. And Mike shows up with courage, consistency, and a heart for others.

He wants people to understand that autism doesn’t limit his ability to contribute, connect, or make a difference. As he often says, “My limitations don’t define me.” Too often, he feels overlooked — but his mission is proof that he is anything but.

A Podcast With Purpose

Mike also shares his story and advocacy work through his podcast, Mike’s Mission, available on Spotify. It’s a space where he talks openly about autism, travel, challenges, victories, and the importance of being understood.

His voice is honest, brave, and needed.

Mike has included a flyer with his message so supporters can have all the details ready.

Everyone has to grab dinner anyway, so why not turn your meal into a moment of impact by supporting Mike and his mission?

An Overcomer With a Calling

Mike is not just raising money,  he’s raising awareness.

He’s not just traveling, he’s connecting & bridging the gap

He’s not just showing up, he’s overcoming every hurdle.

And this week at the Tampa RV SuperShow, you have the chance to meet him in person.

How You Can Support Mike

Even though the give‑back event at Red Robin will run all day, most people will be heading over after the show on January 15, which is why Mike is sharing it as an “after‑the‑show dinner” opportunity.

The funds raised during this event will support Autism Speaks and help make it possible for advocates like Mike to attend the 2026 Autism Speaks Advocacy Forum, taking place April 20–22, 2026, in Washington, D.C. This forum gives individuals with disabilities the chance to meet with members of Congress and work toward a more accessible, inclusive future for people across the country.

Here’s how you can show your support Mike

• Head to Red Robin in Brandon FL to support his efforts on January 15th

• Head to Red Robin in Massachusetts to support his efforts in February

• Take a moment to say hello & let Mike know you care

• Take the time to listen to his story

• Share his mission with others

• Support his advocacy work however you feel led

Your encouragement means more than you know.

Visit Mike at LinkTree to learn all about his projects.

Mike is proof that purpose travels — and that one person’s courage can inspire an entire community. If you’re at the Tampa SuperShow this week, take a moment to meet him. You might be surprised by how much we all overlook those with autism — and Mike will show you just how incredible, capable, and inspiring he truly is.

My husband is the techie in our relationship. In my world, that means he's the one who thinks about things I don't and occasionally explains them to me in ways that stick. We were talking once about the risks of public WiFi. I wasn't thinking much of it—honestly, we have our own internet, we don't rely on campground networks, I figured we were pretty well covered. And then he showed me something.

We don’t do a blog post for every community spotlight. But sometimes God puts people in your path and you just know — their story has to be told. This is one of those times. We recently attended the Adventure Bandits Bash in Onalaska, Texas. It was a great rally — good people, good food, good campfire energy. But I knew from the very first day why we were really there. I was there to meet Thomas Stokes and his sweet wife, Denise. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that sitting down with them was a conversation that reminded me why I do this.

I've been an Escapees member since 2014. I've been to rallies, I've parked at Rainbow's End, I've talked about what it means to belong to something bigger than your travels. But nothing quite prepared me for what I felt the afternoon I walked into the Escapees CARE Center in Livingston, Texas and sat down for fifteen minutes with a woman named Carol. That visit changed something in me & I think it might change something in you, too.
