In a world where RV life can sometimes feel isolating or overwhelming, the Learn to RV  community groups offer something rare: a place to belong. These aren’t just online forums or pop-up meetups—they’re living, breathing spaces where RVers of all ages and backgrounds come together to share stories, swap tips, and support one another through every twist and turn of the journey.

No gatekeeping, no pressure—just honest conversations, practical advice, and a whole lot of heart.

  • MORE GROUPS ARE COMING SOON!

We’ve have a few new niche groups under the Learn to RV umbrella coming soon. They’re designed with same heart, purpose, and connection in mind. While our main Learn to RV group is always open for any topic, these smaller spaces help you connect more personally with others who share your specific passions, challenges, and lifestyle.

Whether you're troubleshooting a leak, planning a rally, or just need a place to vent and laugh, these groups are here to remind you: you’re not alone. You’re part of a community that rolls with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of shared experience.

Can you join more than one Learn to RV group? Absolutely!

In fact, we encourage it! Each group offers its own flavor of connection—from technical tips and roof care to roadschooling, military life, and podcast conversations. Joining multiple groups lets you tap into different parts of the community, ask questions across topics, and build relationships with RVers who share your lifestyle, values, and interests.

Whether you're bouncing between Chick Chat and Roadschooling Resources or diving into the Radical American Gypsy Experience while keeping tabs on RV Roof Advice, you're welcome to be part of as many spaces as you'd like. The more groups you join, the more support, stories, and camaraderie you’ll find.

It’s all free, all friendly, and all designed to help you feel like you belong.

While all of these Learn to RV Facebook groups are absolutely free to join, we do ask members to agree to a few basic rules—chief among them: be kind. In a world where almost nothing comes without a catch, this might sound too good to be true. But these spaces are intentionally designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and judgment-free.

Whether five people ask the same question in one afternoon or someone’s just starting out with the basics, they’ll be met with support—not sarcasm. We believe learning should be accessible and respectful, and that every question deserves a thoughtful answer. It’s not just about RVs—it’s about building a community where everyone feels safe to grow, share, and belong.

We take your choice to join our closed Learn to RV groups seriously—because safety, trust, and community matter. As a traveling family, we know firsthand how important it is to create spaces that feel secure and welcoming. That’s why we look at every profile before approving membership. These aren’t open groups where anyone can slip in unnoticed. Open groups often attract scammers, fake profiles, and bots—and while we can’t stop every troll from trying, our closed format helps us spot and remove them quickly.

Our goal is to protect the integrity of the group and the people in it. Whether you’re asking your first RV question or sharing a seasoned tip, you deserve to be met with kindness and respect. We’re building something real here—and that starts with making sure every member is, too.

Joining one of the Learn to RV Facebook groups is simple and completely free.

Just click on the thumbnail below for the group that fits your interests—whether it's roadschooling, RV roof care, podcast discussions, or connecting with military families—and answer a few quick membership questions. That’s it!

We ask those questions to help keep our spaces safe, kind, and genuinely supportive. Every group is designed to foster real connection, honest conversation, and practical help—without judgment or gatekeeping. So go ahead, find your people, and come be part of something meaningful. We can’t wait to welcome you in.

So is Learn to RV just Facebook groups? Technically, yes

—but in reality, it’s so much more.

These free, welcoming spaces have sparked countless real-life connections, campground friendships, and even collaborative projects among RVers who might never have crossed paths otherwise. What started as a digital gathering place has grown into a community with heart, hustle, and shared investment.

Will we ever host rallies? Maybe! It was one of Doug’s dreams to see Learn to RV evolve into something that could bring people together face-to-face under the same banner.

And we’re still holding space for that possibility. In fact, we’d love to see Learn to RV partner with the Family RV Association (FRVA) to make those big rallies a reality. FRVA offers incredible perks for RVers—from discounts and organized events to their FRVA Assist program, which adds an extra layer of support for members on the road.

Imagine a future where Learn to RV chapters gather at FRVA rallies, sharing stories, hosting workshops, and celebrating the spirit of RV life together. It’s not just a dream—it’s a direction we’re excited to explore. Because whether online or in person, this community is built on connection, kindness, and the belief that learning should always be free.

Does joining FRVA defeat the purpose of a free membership with Learn to RV?

Absolutely not.

The Learn to RV Facebook groups will always remain free, inclusive, and open to anyone who wants to learn, connect, and grow in their RV journey. That’s the heart of what we d and it’s not changing.

But when it comes to hosting rallies, things get more serious behind the scenes. As a vendor in the industry, I know firsthand how complex and expensive rally insurance can be. It’s not just about reserving a space and setting up a few tents—it’s about protecting attendees, vendors, and organizers with proper coverage and liability planning.

That’s where Family RV Association (FRVA) comes in. Under the FRVA banner, those insurance requirements are already met, making it possible to host safe, well-supported events without compromising the integrity of our free community. FRVA also offers a ton of perks for RVers—from discounts and organized rallies to their FRVA Assist program—all of which can enhance your experience without replacing the free support you get from Learn to RV.

And if Learn to RV doesn’t yet have a chapter that fits your exact needs—don’t worry, we’re growing! In fact, we’re launching a family chapter very soon to better support traveling families and multigenerational crews. But even if you're a local camper or weekend adventurer, there’s a space for you. The Family RV Association (FRVA) has chapters and events all across the country, ranging from intimate gatherings of just a few rigs to massive international rallies with over a thousand RVs.

Even big names in the RV world - like RV There Yet? have partnered with Family RV Association (FRVA), recognizing the value of community, support, and shared resources. FRVA continues to grow as a trusted ally for RVers of all stripes, offering perks like discounts, rallies, and their FRVA Assist program, which adds peace of mind to life on the road.

FRVA has also launched a free resource group called RV Curious, designed for curious minds and everyday questions. Whether you're new to RVing or just want a space to ask without pressure, RV Curious is a welcoming group to learn, explore, and connect. You can jump in, ask your questions, and get real answers from experienced RVers and industry pros—no membership fees, no judgment, just support.

It’s part of FRVA’s broader mission to make RV life more accessible and community-driven. From massive rallies to small chapters and now open resource groups like RV Curious, they’re creating spaces where everyone—from weekend campers to full-timers so you can find your footing and your people.

And while the FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) may have started as a club for motorcoach owners, it’s evolved with the times. Since 2017, FMCA has opened its doors to the broader RVing community, welcoming all ages and all types of rigs—whether you tow a trailer, drive a fifth wheel, or roll in a Class B. It’s a reflection of how RV life is changing: more diverse, more inclusive, and more connected than ever.

Think of it as a partnership: Learn to RV remains your free, welcoming space for connection and education, while FRVA provides the infrastructure to help us dream bigger and gather safely. It’s not about replacing one with the other.

It’s about expanding what’s possible with a brand that's been around for over 60 years.

Our newest addition to the Learn to RV family is something we’re especially excited about—our podcast community or our Campfire Crew! Created by Tasha, Jenn, and me, this space is designed for listeners who want to go deeper, ask real questions about episodes, and engage with the conversations we’re having on air. We don’t just talk at you—we ask real questions, share honest stories, and invite you to be part of the dialogue.

This group lives outside our Podcast website, Patreon,  Buy Me a Coffee , Buzzsprout or YouTube — it’s a standalone, free and fun space just like all our other Learn to RV branded groups. Whether you’re catching up on episodes, reflecting on a tough topic, or laughing along with our lighter moments, this podcast community gives you a place to connect with others who are listening, learning, and living the RV life with heart.

It’s not just about the podcast, it’s about building a space where stories matter, you questions are always welcome, and every voice adds something valuable. Come join us!

We’d love to hear what you think, what you’re feeling, and what you want us to explore next.

The Learn to RV Facebook groups are more than just online spaces—they’re a growing network of real people, real stories, and real support. From the original Learn to RV group to niche communities like Chick Chat, Roadschooling Resources, Military Families on the Road, Radical American Gypsy Experience, RV Roof Advice by RV Roofing Solutions, and our newest Podcast Community, each group offers a unique way to connect with others who share your lifestyle, values, and questions. Whether you're troubleshooting a leak, planning a rally, or just looking for a place to belong, these groups are built on kindness, transparency, and shared investment.

And while they’re all free to join, they’re anything but ordinary.

We take your membership seriously, because we believe in creating safe, welcoming spaces where every voice matters. These groups have sparked real-life friendships, campground meetups, and collaborative dreams—including the possibility of future rallies under the Family RV Association banner. So whether you're just starting out or have years of road behind you, there's a Learn to RV group waiting to welcome you in. Come for the advice—stay for the community.

In addition to the Learn to RV community, I also help manage a handful of other RV-focused Facebook groups that serve specific interests and stages of the journey.

If you're a member of Thousand Trails, you might enjoy Thousand Trails Orlando & Winter Garden, a space for sharing campground tips, meetups, and local insights.

For couples navigating RV life as empty nesters or with teens that don't want to do dinner with adults, Silver Threads offers a more personal place to connect, reflect, and share the unique joys and challenges of this season.

And for those living full-time on the road, our Fulltime RVers group is packed with repair tips, lifestyle hacks, and real-world advice from people who’ve been there.

While I don’t run all of these groups solo, I’m actively involved as an admin and main moderator. Each space is designed to foster connection, offer practical support, and help RVers find their people—whether you're troubleshooting a repair, planning a seasonal route, or just looking for a place to belong. These groups reflect the same values as Learn to RV: kindness, transparency, and shared investment in the journey.

Being on the road for 12 years has taught me one thing above all: community matters.

There are plenty of paid groups out there—and many of them are truly valuable. I’m a proud member of several myself, including Fulltime Families (charter member #36!), FRVA, Escapees, and others that have supported our journey in meaningful ways. These memberships have brought us perks, protection, and friendships that go far beyond the price tag.

But here’s the truth: you don’t have to choose just one. If you find value in more than one community—free or paid—that’s more than okay. It’s a reflection of how diverse and dynamic RV life really is. Whether you’re learning in a free Facebook group, attending a rally with FRVA or Escapee's, or leaning into the resources of Fulltime Families or The Republic of Nomads, what matters most is that you feel supported, seen, and connected. Because no matter how far you travel, the right community can greatly enhance your journey.

You don’t have to have it all figured out—you just have to take the first step.

If you’ve ever opened a cabinet in your RV and found a mysterious bin filled with tangled cords, half-used notebooks, expired granola bars, and a rogue sock—you’ve met the infamous doom box. These catch-all containers are the clutter equivalent of emotional baggage: we don’t know what to do with the stuff inside, so we stash it “for later.” And in the compact world of RV living, later often comes fast. But here’s the truth: doom boxes aren’t the enemy. They’re a symptom. A doom box is a sign that life has been busy, transitions have been real, and decisions have been postponed. The good news? You don’t need a full weekend or a Pinterest-worthy overhaul to tackle them. You just need a bite-sized plan and a little momentum to get started.

As the community of full-time RVers grows every day, more and more people are navigating unique life events while living life on the road. One of the most common questions I hear—and help with—is this: Can you be pregnant while living the RV lifestyle? The answer is: Absolutely, yes. With some planning, a little patience, and a healthy dose of flexibility (and maybe even creativity!), pregnancy while traveling full-time is completely manageable. Some families hit the road already planning to grow their family, knowing a baby will eventually arrive during their travels. Others get a beautiful surprise and need to figure things out on the fly. Either way—you’ve got options.

As I’ve blogged about before, I’m a stickler for knowing where I’m at with my truck and camper weights. I have weighed my rig multiple times at CAT Scales and have even compared the advertised dry weights to my actual dry weights. I’ve even gone so far as creating TowingPlanner.com to allow people to do […]
